At Murphys Creek Escape, weβre passionate about protecting the environment and finding sustainable ways to live alongside the beautiful Australian bush.
Camping the Australian Way! Keeping Australia clean is important and something we take pride in. Our country is full of beautiful animals and plants, thousands that happen to also call this campground home. Composting is important for us and for us to manage your waste sustainably after your stay. We are a very busy park with thousands of visitors every year so we need everyone’s cooperation to help that continue. This is a slice of heaven that offers an authentic Australian bush camping experience for everyone to enjoy.

What You Can Compost β
When it comes to composting, itβs important to know what can β and canβt β be tossed into our communal bins. Here’s the green light list:
-
Fruit and Vegetable Scraps: Think apple cores, carrot tops, banana peels, and onion skins.
-
Coffee Grounds and Tea Leaves: Used coffee grounds and loose tea leaves (paper tea bags are okay too if they are compostable!).
-
Crushed Eggshells: A fantastic source of calcium for the soil.
-
Small Bits of Bread, Rice, or Pasta: In small amounts, these carb-heavy leftovers break down beautifully and enrich the compost.
By contributing these items, youβll be helping us create nutrient-rich soil that will feed our future gardens and contribute to a healthier, greener Murphys Creek Escape.
What NOT to Compost β
To keep our compost healthy and effective, there are a few items that we kindly ask you not to add:
-
Meat, Bones, and Dairy Products: These attract pests and don’t break down easily in compost.
-
Plastics, Cans, Foil, or Glass: These materials cannot decompose and contaminate the compost.
-
Oils, Fats, and Greasy Leftovers: These slow down the composting process and cause odours.
Keeping the compost clean ensures it breaks down efficiently, smells fresh, and is safe to use in our future garden beds.
Why Composting Matters at Murphys Creek Escape πΏ
By embracing composting, weβre taking another step towards sustainability and environmental stewardship. Hereβs why it matters:
-
Growing Fresh Food: Our compost will nourish a brand-new veggie and fruit garden, providing fresh, healthy produce for campers and visitors to enjoy in the future.
-
Reducing Waste: Composting significantly cuts down the amount of waste that would otherwise head to landfill, reducing our environmental footprint.
-
Protecting Our Bushland: Less waste means a cleaner, healthier bush environment, preserving the natural beauty of Murphys Creek Escape for everyone who visits.
By composting the right way, youβre not only contributing to a greener campsite, but youβre also helping create something tangible β delicious, homegrown food and a thriving natural environment.
