A love of camping, family connection and the Australian bush shaped a new chapter for Murphys Creek Escape.
In August 2019, Alberta Western and her children—Ari, Finn and Ivy—took over the ownership and management of Murphys Creek Escape. Alberta has a background in social work, having worked in multiple settings over the last 25 years. A passion for 4WDing, camping and the great Australian bush, combined with a desire for a healthier lifestyle, led to the decision to purchase Murphys Creek Escape.
As a single mum to two active boys, Alberta’s holidays were always camping. Resorts and apartments near the beach were out of reach and enclosed spaces never suited two energetic boys. Camping created time to play, talk and explore together. Friends who joined those trips became family, and the tradition continued when her daughter was born.
Many of Alberta’s favourite memories revolve around camping. Her hope is to provide a place where other families and friends can build the same kind of lasting connection.
“My hope is to provide a space that allows similar experiences for other families.”
