Family camping is a great way to teach your kids new skills. Pitching a tent together, starting a campfire and cooking outdoors are skills your child can carry throughout their life, and eventually pass on to their own children.
You can also create new family traditions to look forward to on your next trip, and you’re guaranteed to gather at least a few stories that you’ll be laughing about for years. The range of activities at Murphy’s Creek Escape might even help the youngsters (or the old folks!) overcome their fears.
Anyone with kids of their own knows that they are little bundles of energy. Luckily, camping will use up plenty of that stored up enthusiasm with the almost limitless selection of activities that will keep them busy.
Setting up tents, prepping food, gathering wood and tidying the site will occupy even the most restless of little ones. The Murphy’s Creek Escape campgrounds are also brimming with action-packed activities, like the giant swing, abseiling, hiking, biking and bird feeding. There really is always something to do.
Unlike staying at a hotel or resort, family camping is an affordable and simple option for a holiday. After securing your site and setting up your caravan or tent, there is little need to open up your wallet. The extensive range of outdoor activities will keep the kids busy for hours on end, and there is no need to get dressed up for fancy and expensive dinners either.
Campers can bring all their food with them, and we have an on-site store with a range of affordable items too. There are also different types of sites and accommodation options to suit every budget and need. At Murphy’s Creek Escape we do fun, without breaking the budget!
Time Outdoors
You can’t get much closer to nature than on a family camping trip. Sit by your tent and quietly observe animals in their natural habitat or go for a hike and listen to the backing track of birds and insects. There is something special about the Upper Lockyer Valley region, and camping at Murphy’s Creek Escape is the absolute best way to embrace it.

So, if you are camping with kids you don’t have to worry about travelling too long of a distance in the car to have a cool Aussie bush camping experience.
At Murphy’s Creek Escape, we want everyone to have the opportunity for a family holiday, which is why we go the extra mile to ensure we cater to every type of family. When we first opened our doors in the mid 1980s, our property was a lush and expansive region of green space. In the years since then, our entire area has undergone a complete transformation. With a new eco-billabong being built this is now home for 100’s of local birds when it’s not being used by guests.
There is a medium ropes course for the kids, with archery always a hit with the kids. Plenty of new mountain biking trails for all levels of riders from beginners to advanced. The creek is a lot of fun for the kids to have a safe place to swim and play with dogs. Hiking around through the canyon tops and seeing all the local fauna or flora is an authentic way to see the Australian bush in all it’s natural beauty. There are horses on-site for guests to feed and interact with making it like a family farm stay.
Family campers now have access to an impressive range of activities and amenities. There are also different options to suit different families, including both powered and unpowered sites, rental tents and campers. Murphy’s Creek Escape is also both dog and horse friendly, provided guests comply with our campground policies.
